Second cover star photoshoot

Here are some photos from my photo shoot for my second front cover. I wanted to do a more urban, street art style for this, as a contrast to my other cover. I hoped this would also create an interesting story.

Further NEA photoshoots

  Here are some photos from my shoot for my second cover. I chose to use two models and played around with lots of different poses, which turned out really successful. I am really happy with how the photos turned out and, with a bit of editing to make the sky a bit brighter, I think they will work well for my magazine. 

My first photoshoots for my NEA

 

This was my first draft of photos. I wanted to make a more 'glamorous' front cover, so I put my model in a striking red top and heels. I then gave her medals and a football to reinforce her 'career' as a successful footballer. These photos didn't turn out quite as well as I wanted and my focus on making a more counter-typical front cover lost the health element completely.  I took some more photos on the school track, which fit better for a health magazine, and some are contents page and website worthy, but I am still missing the perfect front cover photo. 

I am planning a photoshoot with some street art, contrasting a well dressed model running. This will hopefully make for an interesting cover, not only because of the visuals, but also for the story I can tell with the image.

We had to create a typical tabloid and broadsheet newspaper, both reporting on the same story, to highlight the differences between each newspaper. At the time, the Ed Gein story had resurfaced, so we decided to report on this, as it was quite topical at the time. We had to choose adverts and stories which would appeal to the target audience of each newspaper. We also tried to make the headlines sound as each newspaper would present the story. I prefer my broadsheet front cover to my tabloid front cover, because it look more realistic and uses most of the conventions of a typical broadsheet newspaper, like the Guardian.

BIG ISSUE MAGAZINE

I made a Big Issue magazine, trying to link it to the social and cultural context of the time I made it. I decided to use the upcoming movie 'Marty Supreme' for the inspiration for my front cover. I tried to link the themes of the movie to the left-wing views of the magazine, to make it more appealing to the magazines target audience. I based my front cover off the typical layout of Big Issue magazines, to make it look as realistic as possible. I used a bright orange background, not only to reflect the ping-pong aspect of the movie, but also to make the magazine stand out and be able to be seen on the streets for vendors to sell.

BEAUTY PRODUCT ADVERT

I made a beauty product advert in response to learning about Baby Dove's advertising campaign. I chose to make an advert for Sol de Janeiro spray and target a younger audience, who are the main demographic for buying this product. I made a sea using pieces of ripped blue paper and a sun to encapsulate the summery scent of the product. I used a gradient for the background, which highlights the product in the middle. My slogan also reflects this, including with my hashtag, which can target a largely online audience as well. This was done again to build confidence on photoshop.

SCHOOL ADVERT

 

SCHOOL ADVERT - 

I created a print advert for my school's sixth form at the beginning of the year to re-introduce everyone to the cameras and using photoshop. I used a layout design with a selection of different images which I think really sold my school. I then added some text in the school colours to tie the advert all together. This was a refresher for using photoshop at the beginning of the year and helped me re-learn the skills I will need for my NEA later on in the year.
